A Walk In The Marsh

On a recent, overcast, Sunday morning Greg and I took a walk along part of the Eastern Trail down in Scarborough. As you can see, the trail took us through a huge marsh. It was a pretty walk, and well worth the trip as it was so close to home.

You can see here that this portion of the trail is an abandoned railroad right of way. It must have been quite a train ride years ago!

Just a nice house tucked into the end of the trail.....we really weren't far from civilization at any time!
Greg's experimenting with the different settings on the camera and is getting pretty good at capturing what he wants to. You can see the Snowy Egret and Rugosa Roses below. Just as an fyi; you can double click on any of these photos and they'll enlarge for you.

Trip to the Runkle/Payeur Residence

Memorial Day Weekend we headed south to visit Springli, Marya, Ben and David. We had a wonderful visit. One of the first things we did was to go lawnmower shopping. Marya had saved that little task until we arrived knowing that David would just love having Papa G along for the selection process. Of course, every place that sells lawn mowers also sells tractors, so David spent alot of time test driving each and every one of them! It was amazing how intrigued he was by every lever and button and gadget. We did find a lawnmower, and David helped Greg put it together and then actually tested it out. Mission accomplished! It worked!

This was a really cool Corvette we saw in the parking lot of Lowes. David concurred with Papa G that is was a spiffy set of wheels.

David enjoyed himself at a park and playing with Addie at her house to celebrate her birthday. We had a slight meltdown when it was time to go home because his flying disc had been tossed in what looked like poison ivy and was there to stay forever. David couldn't quite grasp why we wouldn't go get his toy.....he was one sad boy, but as we adults knew, not as sad as he would have been if he had gotten poison ivy! No fun at all!

Oops..part 2

This is the Starbucks crew on 80's night
My friend from high school Nicole came back to Maine for a few weeks this summer for a visit so we went out for drinks one night. It was an adventure as always. Nicole has been living in Pakistan for the last 3 years.

You might be a Redneck if...yes there really is a Boss Hog's variety store in Liman Maine!! We were installing a floor out there and I just had to take a picture of the sign.

Vicky, Alexey, and me at Kim's 4th of July party

Me and my long time friend Kim on the 4th. Every year has a huge party complete with a band on the 4th because she lives right in front of where they set off the fireworks in Portland. Its always a fabulous party!

oops...

OK so Its been awhile- sorry mom please don't kill me- Things have been busy for me. I moved out of my place in Scarborough and am now living in Portland with my friend Vicky from Starbucks. Its a cute little place that we are working on making home. One of the best things about it is we can walk down town to the bars and ride our bikes to work!

Chillin with Vicky and Krissy from work

Our Living room- as you can see we haven't gotten everything moved in yet, but were working on it. I'm very excited because I got a "grown up" (full sized) bed that will be arriving in a few weeks!
Our Tiny kitchen
We have a little back porch for grilling

One of my friends from work Krissy moved out to Cali last week. For her going away party we went to a bar called Bubba's Silky Lounge for 80's night!!! It was so much fun!!! They played all 80's music all night and if you were dressed in 80's outfits then you didn't have to pay the cover and got in for free!! So a bunch of us from work all dressed up and went out.

Vicky and I in our fabulous 80's night outfits!!! Shes so much fun

Our Names

Gregory:
From the Latin Gregorius, which was from the late Greek name Γρηγοριος (Gregorios), which was derived from γρηγορος (gregoros) meaning "watchful, alert". This was the name of several saints including three Fathers of the Church: Saint Gregory Thaumaturgus (3rd century), Saint Gregory of Nyssa, and Saint Gregory of Nazianzus (both 4th century). This was also the name of 16 popes, including Gregory I, who was known as Gregory the Great.

Margaret:
Derived from Latin Margarita, which was from Greek μαργαριτης (margarites) meaning "pearl", probably a borrowing from Sanskrit. Saint Margaret was martyred at Antioch in the 4th century. She is the patron saint of expectant mothers. Another famous bearer was Queen Margaret I of Denmark, who united Denmark, Sweden, and Norway in the 14th century. The name was also borne by Margaret Mitchell, author of 'Gone with the Wind'.

Marya: Rya yours doesn't exist in the database but all "Marya"s seem to come from Mary soo
Usual English form of Maria, which was the Latin form of the New Testament Greek names Μαριαμ (Mariam) or Μαρια (Maria) (the spellings are interchangeable), which were from the Hebrew name מִרְיָם (Miryam). The meaning is not known for certain, but there are several theories including "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", and "wished for child". However it was most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".
This is the name of several New Testament characters, most importantly Mary the virgin mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene. Two queens of England have had this name, as well as a Queen of Scotland, Mary Queen of Scots.

Benjamin:
From the Hebrew name בִנְיָמִין (Binyamin) which means "son of the south" or "son of the right hand". Benjamin in the Old Testament was the twelfth and youngest son of Jacob and the founder of one of the southern tribes of the Hebrews. This name was also borne by Benjamin Franklin, an American statesman, inventor, scientist and philosopher.

David:
Possibly derived from Hebrew דוד (dvd) meaning "beloved". David was the second and greatest of the kings of Israel, ruling in the 10th century BC. Several stories about him are told in the Old Testament, including his defeat of Goliath, a giant Philistine. Jesus was supposedly descended from him.

Seth:
Means "placed" or "appointed" in Hebrew. In the Old Testament he was the third son of Adam and Eve, and forefather of the entire human race.

Lindsay:
From a Scottish surname which was originally derived from a place name meaning "Lincoln's wetland" in Old English.

Caleb:
ka'-leb (kalebh; in the light of the cognate Syriac and Arabic words, the meaning is not "dog," which is kelebh, in Hebrew, but "raging with canine madness"; Chaleb): In the Old Testament this is the name of one of the twelve spies sent by Moses into Israel. Of the Israelites who left Egypt with Moses, Caleb and Joshua were the only ones who lived to see the promised land.

Hannah:
From the Hebrew name חַנָּה (Channah) which meant "favour" or "grace". Hannah was the mother of the prophet Samuel in the Old Testament. The Latin version of this name is Anna.

Springli: I don't exist in databases...
However, Spring "ultimately [comes] from Old English springan "to leap, to burst forth"."

Just one sites take on our first names...we have some pretty powerful names! Love you all. God Bless.
